Sign the petition and help us to solve the housing emergency by establishing the Right to Housing in law

Dear Taoiseach,

We are calling on the Government to urgently introduce a legal Right to Housing.

A legal Right to Housing will benefit all citizens and provide a vital tool to help end the current housing and homelessness emergency.

It would require Government to ensure that all citizens have access to decent, adequate shelter and to make this a reality through its laws, policies and budgetary decisions.

A total of 81 countries worldwide have enshrined the Right to Housing in their laws and constitutions, including EU states such as Belgium, Finland, Greece, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Austria and France.

In October 2018, a majority of political parties and deputies supported and passed a Dail motion that specifically required Government to introduce a legal Right to Housing.

It is now time to deliver!
